Before taking part in this...make sure you don't want to read the books

What'd you guys think?
At first, I kept wondering why Harry having Lily's eyes was so important... And it wasn't until I finished that I realized why. It made Snape's death so much more emotional; before I was a bit confused as to why he said to Harry "Look...at...me..." And after reading the chapter from Snape's pensieve memory, it made sense. What's your favorite parts? Whose death shocked you the most? For me, I think it was Hedwig...probably caught me offguard more than any other in the book except maybe Fred's. |

Okay, first of all, I was blown away by Remus & Tonks and the fact that Harry didn't even have the common decency to look after Teddy!!!
Anyway, the death that I'm most unsettled with is Fred, I mean, the twins have always been among my favorite characters throughout the series. The whole Snape thing, I can't believe that I was right, my friends haven't even read the book yet, so I can't rub it in their faces that all throughout the books and the movies I was like, "I think Snape wanted to do Harry's mom!" I definitely wouldn't consider him a hero. The way it ended was great though, Mrs. Weasley got a chance to kick some ass! But then comes the epilogue, which I thought was quite insufficient, I don't know about any of you. But I checked out www.mugglenet.com and watched an interview with J.K. Rowling and she said that she is considering making a Harry Potter Encyclopedia, which would give a little more information about where the characters end up. |

Yeah I read an interview today that supplements the epilogue...I agree it was a bit vague.

Over all I liked the book, even though they weren't at Hogwarts, I thought that would make me not like it as much as the others, but I was wrong. It was a lot of Harry, Ron, Hermione which I was happy about, even though Ron was a jerk for a little while. My favorite part was either Godric's Hollow, or the part when they were in Malfoy's basement, I can't decide.
Godric's Hollow was fun because it opened a lot of doors concerning the real Albus Dumbledore and then Bathilda actually being Nagini, and Voldemort showing up within seconds of missing his chance of doing both Harry and Hermione in. I liked the part in Malfoy's basement because it let me know that Luna was alright, BTW I really started liking Luna after seeing the character in OoTP - I thought they did a really good job of casting her. The only thing I didn't like about this chapter is Bellatrix kills Dobby which was a little brutal for a HP book. He was one of the adorable-appeal-to-kids characters and I can't believe he caught a dagger in the chest like that. All in all, the series is pretty inspiring, for all the rotten things that Draco and his parents have done/said, Harry still didn't want to kill him even though he had the chance to let him die like three times. Narcissa redeemed herself as far as I'm concerned, going along with the play dead thing that Harry was doing at the end. I know it was just because she wanted to get to Draco and Lucius, but it can't be denied that she chose love in the end. It makes me a little happier since I named my snake after her. |

That's what I did, Dave.
I read it all weekend and finished Monday. I was afraid to go online before finishing it... I remember after HBP, seeing a video of someone drive by a bookstore on the release night (where all these people were camping out), and yelling out Snape kills Dumbledore! I guess they'd read a leaked copy online, and ruined it for all those poor kids waiting in line (and anyone who watched the video since it didn't have a proper heading). :P |

That's evil! Though I did here plans of someone in the UK who managed to be at the top of the queue at a Tesco's store, was the first to buy the book and proceeded to read out the last few pages of the book to the other waiting. That's just cruel.

Absolutely! Well in 2005 I went to the midnight Harry Potter party to get the Half Blood Prince, and while I was standing in line this jackass who had just bought the book comes running through the line screaming "DUMBLEDORE DIES!!!!! *repeats several times*" So this year, I didn't want to take the chances, I ordered it online, disconnected my wireless router and disconnected my TV until I finished it! |

Favorite part of the series?
I really like the first 2-3 books because it just seemed like they weren't building towards anything in particular. I really liked the carefree (yet there's still danger) sort of feel to them before Ron, Harry, and Hermione really started to grow up. I also really liked (or loved to hate rather) Dolores Umbridge. How bout you? |

Yeah, I Liked OotP a lot too, though many say it's their least favorite.
Another favorite of mine is when JK would end a chapter with something new. One some levels it was great, on others it was irritating. It's like you don't want to put the book down because you have to figure out what's happened or will happen with this new piece of information she's given, but you NEED to go to sleep. :P |

Guys, I've never read any of the Harry Potter books, but a good friend of mine keeps telling me about a character about Nevil (spelling?), and how she'd write a whole series on this character.
I assume Nevil doesn't have a role in the movies. Who is this? |
