I don't think the death penalty is necessary in this type of situation but I do think life in prison is.

No I don't think he does. I don't think anyone does. But like I said way earlier, I won't really know b/c I am not in the shoes of the families. But no I don't think he deserves death for what he did.

I'm staying out of this one....discussions about this subject tend to get ugly whether it is the intention or not.

Well I, for one, would like to commend everyone in this thread on their ability to maturely discuss this topic for 17 posts now without a war breaking out. I have seen this topic raised on other forums and the same cannot be said for those.
It's great that we can all openly discuss topics with respect and maturity. Thanks everyone. |

That's why I like this forum so much, it's not like any other forum I've ever been to.

Morally I'm against the death penalty, but when you think about all the overcrowding that's going on in US prisons it makes killing some of the prisoners off seem like a logical plan. I know that if I was stuffed into an overcrowded prison I'd definitely do something to warrant the death penalty. ;-)

I didn't meant he literally forgot his name. It's not that simple. But the fact that he was walking around freely around the apartment complex w/ a cell phone and all and never tried to seek help shows definate signs of stockholm syndrome or some sort of coercive persuasion on the part of the kidnapper.

Of course I do, completely and that's perfectly alright. Sometimes there are topics we just don't feel comfortable commenting on and it's each to their own. There's no rule to say you have to.

I have a question that sort of relates to this topic. Last night some co-workers of mine were discussing the death penalty and they brought up that in California there is a "3 Strikes" law where if you commit the same crime 3 times, that's it, and you get life in prison. Anybody know more about this?
