Default JEWEL and the GANG

She has the whiff of longevity, too, a built-to-last quality that suggests her talent will still be shining brightly long after the likes of Alanis Morissette and Fiona Apple have faded. Just as the enduring Mitchell has made one of the albums of 1998 with Taming The Tiger, you somehow know Jewel will still be making quality albums in the year 2020.

I've nothing against Alanis or Fiona. Aside from Jewel, Tracy Chapman is the only other female singer i listen to. I remember back in the late 90's, Jewel was really big at that time in terms of popularity. But let's face the fact that Alanis was bigger... Along with Alanis and Jewel, Sheryl Crow and Sara Mclachan, there were other female singers that were making names at that time such as:

Meridith Brooks "Bitch"
Natalie I. "Torn"
Paula Cole "I Don't Wanna Wait"
Tina Arena "Burn"
Meja "I'm Missing You"
and many others....

My point is that, i really made the right choice in liking
Jewel, because she stays longer than the other singers mentioned.

I have to be honest that Nigel Williamson is not my favorite music critic (particularly his views on This Way album), but nonetheless his statement quoted at the top seems to be so true. What do you think?

I listen to alanis and sarah too and own a few CDs, but it's different with Jewel. She is my favorite artist! I'm so glad I found her...
