Maybe it's just a matter of changing the channel. But I always find myself engrossed in Animal Planets police shows. It's about helping animals who have been abused or mistreated and taking them away from neglectful or abusive owners.
I have a soft spot for all animals.... even for horses (way down some where). But especially when they show dogs who have been abused, or shot, or starved to the point where theres just fur stretched tightly over their skeletons I get a horrible feeling of anger towards the people that allow these things to happen to their dogs. I feel that it's almost worse than homicide because at least a human can defend himself in most cases. But no matter how hard you hit a dog their still going to love you and I don't see how anybody could do such a thing. God, some people make me insane. |

Thanks for the warning Bobby, I won't be clicking the link. I can't watch even those simple veterinary hospital type shows as I get extremely upset just seeing animals sick, let alone the mistreatment and cruelty so many of them receive.
I just can't bear animal cruelty. They can't fend for themselve or even speak for themselves. I just need to see the sad eyes of a mistreated dog or cat and I am a shrivelling mess. Growing up, I wanted to work with animals but when I got older and had a little bit of experience seeing animals coming into the clinic after severe mistreatment, I realised I just wasn't strong enough to cope. I just cry all the time. I really can't bear it. On the bright side, the family dog we had, Oscar, that we adored and loved so very much was rescued from an abused owner. The owner actually died and Oscar went into the kennels but the owner had badly beat him when he was around. We took him in and he lived the happy well treated life he always should have had. I miss him so much now. |

We got dasher from a puppy mill. I'm not sure if that counts as direct animal cruelty but he was a week from being gased and he was only 1 month old.

this is sickening - and quite sad - i remember hearing about it but wasn't certain what's all going on
the really sad part is those foods they mentioned as being non testing - i've never even heard of - it's like - um - where do u buy that - oh well - i hope this boycott sends a message to all the major companies to get rid of their testing - i don't see the point to testing - food is food by the way bobby - your dog is cute!!! |

isn't Iam's supposed to be one of the "best" dog foods too? ah well, we don't get Iam's anyways, good thing I guess.
I was given a really good book called "Hope Rising" about a horse rescue ranch out in the midwest. It really made me tear up reading about the conditions of some of these horses that were rescued that had been abandoned to starve to death, and worse. Most of the stories ended well though, with the horse being rescued and nursed back to health and adopted by people who wanted them and cared for them.

yeah i like seeing and hearing the happy outcomes. But even when those types of shows are on TV and I know there's a happy ending, I just break down to a shrivelling mess if I watch them.
Peter always tells me off when I do coz he knows how I get. I'm the same with anything to do with child cruelty and abuse. Can't bear the thoughts even. |

Yeah Animal Cruelty, always been against it and always will...and on looking and reading at Bobbys warning link, it really makes me sick to think people out there can actualy do horrid things like that to poor helpless animals..
dogs gone crazy from intense confinement to barren steel cages and cement cells, dogs left piled on a filthy paint-chipped floor after having chunks of muscle hacked from their thighs; dogs surgically debarked; horribly sick dogs and cats languishing in their cages, neglected and left to suffer with no veterinary care how can those barbaric sods go home and sleep normaly after there sick day2day doings such as that??? let alone even own a pet!? I do get extreme gratification on seeing the lowlife culprits responsible for such doings and of animal cruelty in general, put away in shame of there doings, and its always a good thing to see the animals given a new life with a new home and loving companionship ;)
