This was really nice the other morning amidst the chaos of masses of greedy people pushing and shoving each other, trampling over each other and stealing merchandise from other people's shopping carts....(this was the day after thanksgiving at hel-mart aka black friday) ... as people all over the store were doing just as I've stated and I found myself a nice hiding place until I got off at 7 am, from the evil Hel-Mart radio network I heard Jewel singing Winter Wonderland... I've never heard anything from Joy out in public... did she release any songs from Joy commercially?
I always appreciate hearing Jewel's voice when things are getting crazily evil at work... soothes my soul....

That's funny, I heard this song for the first time in years only yesterday. I was really surprised to here it in the supermarket near my mother. Seeing as it wasn't exactly a mainstream version of the song, especially here in Ireland. I just didn't expect it.

Yeah. Couldn't believe out of all the Christmas songs of Jewel to hear, it was Winter Wonderland. Very odd.

I thought it was odd when I heard it too, especially since she does that very unmainstream scat section in that song

I meant to post this yesterday, but I forgot, the other night when I first got to work, it's funny I heard her voice over the radio system and it took me a second to realise what was playing, at first I was confused I thought it was Deep Water, but it was in fact Face of Love, I thought it was awesome, since it wasn't a single or anything, but I guess they are randomly playing tracks from JOY throughout the month..

I have to admit whoever is working in the wal-mart radio booth has been doing a great job lately. The past 2 nights at work they have played Standing Still and Down So Long in the same night. So that's 2 nights in a row I've heard those 2 songs It's great to hear Jewel played and my 2 fav singles at that

I still keep hearing the 3 big hits from POY at work on Sirius satellite radio, "The Pulse" (1990's) channel. They really love Jewel on there! They'll play stuff from GAIW once in awhile too. I hear 'Good Day' quite a bit...maybe every other day or so.

You know it's funny how they made Intuition to be this big mainstream pop song back when it was popular but now I never hear it playing anywhere... once at applebees and that was it...

Oh I forgot about this thread. I actually heard POY (the album, not just the song) being played in my local natural health shop. I asked the girl working there who the Jewel fan was and she said she was. Then we got chatting because it is so rare now to find Jewel fans in Ireland.
She's actually French and has POY and Spirit but none of the others. So I said I'd give her some of my spares (I have a few copies of This Way and GAIW). I realise now that I still haven't done that. Oops. But great to find another fan. It was at that time that I wish I had a business card with the Jewel Kilcher Forum on it to give to her but when would I use them? I did tell her about here though. |
