Do you think Eddie Veddar was listening to Jewel?
I'm a bit late to this album but I got a great listen to Eddie Vedder's album that was used in the movie 'Into the Wild' and this song immediately had a guitar riff in it that immediately made me think I could have been listening to Jewel's song 'Don't'
In case it's just me, have a listen. Jewel's song is slower than this and this is a beautiful song but I can't help wondering if he'd been listening to POY album when he was writing this. Listen to the intro to 'Don't' and then listen to this song and you'll hear it's the same chords and picking but just a bit faster.
But I highly recommend this album as it's really lovely and it's a credit to Eddie and quite unsung. As an old time Pearl Jam fan, I'm sorry I left it so late to give this one a listen. |

This is definitely a great album! The songs made that movie so great!
As for the songs, a lot of them use a finger-picking style called Travis picking, which Jewel uses in several of her songs (Don't isn't one of them, though). |

Jewel picks in Don't though and whatever way she does, it sounds really similar
Maybe it's just me. Wouldn't be the first time. |

To me it sounds similar too...
Eddie's is faster....similarity is a common thing...but I doubt that Eddie has never listened to Jewel's songs |

'Into The Wild' is one of my all-time favorite movies! The soundtrack is like no other! Truly a Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder fan's dream. I wouldn't be surprised if he had listened to Jewel and her contemporaries...(ie.Joni Mitchell). It suspect that Eddie's musical tastes extend beyond grunge...he's more well rounded than many people have thought. His acoustic-stylings for the 'Into The Wild' movie are proof of that, imo.
