Default They said Jewel has a THIN VOICE

How embarrassing!! This guy of the rolling stone magazine writes that jewel has a thin voice, i mean.. he must be deaf or totaly dumb! Even on good day Jewels voice cames really out. Its sad.... because its bad promotion for jewel when you dont know her and read a review just like that...

Do these people have EARS????? This is a perfect example of why I don't really read critic reviews. Most of them don't know good music when they hear it.....

That guy clearly hasn't a clue what he's talking about. Jewel has an amazingly powerful voice. Was he sure he was even listening to Jewel? Bet he wasn't listening to the right song. Give him one of the more powerfully vocal songs and then he'd take it back.

At the end of the day, it's just an opinion.

THere are people out there that have slight to major tone deafness, just like colourblindness. THey say that 1 in 10 women have an issue with colour distortion. I wonder how many people have probmes with hearing.

THIN voice!?!:lmao2: You listen to "Angel Standing By" or "Gloria" and you tell me that she has a thin voice. Maybe the critic who said that was senile...or got her mixed up with someone else.

i think maybe the critic was referring to the version of a 1000 miles away on GAIW on the chrous where she sings "ohhhh goddddd" kinda whiny

I know her did not just insult MY Long Slow Slide! that is MY SONG! I OWN IT!

When I first bought the album, my brother (who likes Jewel) said "Damn, Jewels voice got so much better latley" I said "Shes always had a great voice" and he said "I know, but it sounds as powerful as ever".

If someone like my brother can see that, why cant a reviewer for Rollingstones magizine see that?!

I have to say that I think Jewel is not a "studio" artist. She doesn't come across nearly as good as she actually is on record. Live stuff is where it's at.

Hey, I'm not arguing that with you! I think her voice is vibrant, seet, operatic in pitch, falsetto one minute, bass another, then back to soprano voice. her voice is the most versatile female voice out there! SHe's probably the only female artist I listen to (that's why my family thinks I'm a fag!).

her voice is so bold yet so transitional with evidence in songs like "Don't" and "You Were Meant For Me" and so sexy in songs like "Morning Song" and "I'm Sensitive". Trust me, I couldn't agree with your sides of the argument any more.

I'm fascinated by Jewel, and that's really what is great. I've never felt such a bold, breathtaking appeal to lyrics before than hers. Absollutely beautiful, and perfect. Come on, who's on whose side, I merely said the critic must be tone deaf.

Many people are tone deaf, I had a economics professor in college who was tone deaf. HE SCREAMED OUT EVERY WORD LIKE HE WAS FORMERLY IN THE CORPS OF ARTILLERY!
Couldn't stand him, but a brilliant minded man, if you could tune him down a little bit.

"The Lonely Angel"
I agree. She has a lovely and very versatile voice but what bothers me is that she hasn't been using her vocal ability to the fullest extent on her later records, like This Way and GBAIW. She sings in her "baby" voice throughout the whole record and there's no range- pretty monotonous. Why she wouldn't want to use her real vocal talent is beyond me. She still sings wonderfully live though, but as far as studio records go, I think Joy is her only post-Pieces Of You lp where she actually uses her vocal gift.

I always wondered why Jewle never pulled out the Aces up her sleeve vocally when it came to recording an album. Maybe she wants to keep her live shows as dymanic as possible? Jewel live screams, wails with ear piercing results, yodels, serenaides, peforms arias. If I could only have an album with all that then I owuld be one hapy person!
