I was actually refering to Grey matter - sorry

But now that you mention both...I love both of these songs. One is kinda dark and the other is more upbeat though. Very different songs

I love Where you are... the one song I can't too much get into on GAIW is 1000 miles away not that it's a bad song I just don't like when she says "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDddddddddddddd" she sounds kind of whiney like a cheerleader or something.... but it's still a good song. I like this live acoustic version I found, it's not quite so whiney sounding.

Default Tricky Choice mmmmm......

Hi,my god, this a very hard choice to make.As a previous post said,we all love Jewel Songs/Lyrics for different personal reasons, sometimes it might be the catchy melody, sometimes it could be lyrics that you identify with, and other songs just kinda sound perfect to listen to depending on your particular mood at the time.
I will try to choose now,but it's been hard, like Kiera say's,your favourites can change all the time, every day sometimes eh?
Also,it's probably pretty obvious to pick the singles,as maybe thats the ones we become more familiar with hearing, but i know that some people will not choose them because they are the obvious choice, but would rather pick another less known album track,it's just the varied taste each of us have.
I will give it a go,but i will probably question my list as soon as it's posted,Deep Breath,GO!!

POY : Foolish Games (close with Near You Always)

Spirit : Deep Water

This Way : Break Me (i love New Wild West, but live version is the best!)

0304 : 2 Become 1

GAIW : Goodbye Alice In Wonderland ( close with Good Day)

I really love the GAIW album,it was difficult to choose from it as there are so many good tracks,as ther is from all the albums of course, but GAIW seems to be such a personal album from her,but there are still lots of lyrics that we can all relate to in some way, that's why i love her music so much.
0304 is my least favourite album,i know there is a complete change of style for her on this one,but i honestly prefer her more typical 'Folk/Pop' type style.
As with probably other Jewel fans,i mostly prefer live acoustic versions of her songs, you just can't beat her standing there, looking stunning, with only her guitar, and singing with such passion and emotion, she is totally captivating on those occasions, that is why we are all desperate to see her in concert i think.
I watch 'Live at Humphreys' lots and lots because its a live gig,and her live TV performances are amazing too.I have definately got a preference for the live tracks over the album trackS on most ocassions.
Cheers Crawfy !!!

Hi Crawfy!! Good to see you! I agree it's very hard to choose just ONE song per album.....I can't really say there's any song of Jewel's that I DON'T like to be honest. I truly love all of her music.

My fav 3 off the GAIW album is GAIW, Stephenville TX, and Where You Are. I think it's one of Jewel's best albums.

And speaking of GAIW, does anyone else here have the exclusive Target DVD that came with the GAIW album??? I noticed that the video for GAIW on this is different than the other 2 versions I've seen online. There are a couple different scenes added where she's wearing a different outfit that aren't included in the other 2 versions of this video.

I have that DVD too and I didn't notice. I'll have to watch it again but I only watched it twice (shame on me) so it's very possible I didn't notice.

1 version I saw online was just Jewel standing in front of the tree for the whole song. The other online version was mostly Jewel standing in front of the tree, with a clip or two at the beginning and end where she's wearing a blue strapless dress....The version on the DVD includes the tree scene, blue dress, and another outfit like a white eyelet blouse that only lasts a few seconds. It seems there's more cuts in this version. I think the one on the DVD is different than those released online.....I hope I'm right about this!! :-)

I said it's not the lyrics of the song, it's the way she says God

Good choices and thanks for bringing this thread back, it's great to get new members opinions. I love the song Daddy and how angry she sounds. All of your choices are great really. I forget what I initially put but I'm sure they've changed since then, they always do...
