Jessica
Does anyone know when Jewel recorded the song Jessica? I can't seem to find anything about that song. I've looked for it on Itunes and can't track it down. I can find the lyrics but the album is unknown and there is no mention of what year it was released. Thanks for your help...

You can't track it down, because it wasn't released officially...it's an old old old song that she doesn't play anymore. Maybe you might want to listen to "emily" which is an official release and sounds just like Jessica....

Not true. Jessica was released officially in 1997 on Future Folklore Volume 3. It was a nonprofit release produced by Alan MrBB Bershaw the same guy that does her archive. Jewel donated Jessica and Lasciatemi Morirre to this but it was only released on cassette tape. I have it in my collection but I dont have a player to play it anymore. Jane

I wouldn't call that an official release though, hence it can't be found on itunes or the like. Here's a lovely youtube video though.

It's a song I never liked much and so I rarely listen to it. I didn't know that about it Jane so thanks for sharing that. I'm glad you still have it in your collection.

The only recording I heard of Jessica was a performance from the C'est What Cafe in Toronto which someone was nice enough to give to me. Sad song, she was talking in the intro about how she wrote it for a friend-of-a-friend who died, and when I listened I was like, wait a minute, isn't this Emily? I think "Emily" is basically a final draft of "Jessica" with a few new parts added.

I think she only ever played it two times. Once at that Toronto show you mention and years later on whatever show that Future Folklore Jessica is from. Jane
