Only One...
Ok I was wondering if you could only have one Jewel album which one would it be? Now I know this is hard b/c we all love them all, but don't answer with "All of them b/c I love them all", there's got to be one album you couldn't live without.... Ok here's what happened- you wake up in the middle of the night and your house is on fire and all of your Jewel cd's are in different rooms all over the house and you can only get to one room before your lungs fill up with smoke and you have to get out or YOU DIE!
Do you run to the door labelled PIECES OF YOU or THIS WAY? hmmm maybe the one with the sign that says GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND? I really want to know.

Would have to be Pieces of You for me. It is the root of everything I love about Jewel's music and not only do I adore it's poetry, I love how nostaligic it makes me feel too.
She hasn't had a heart felt, deep album like it since, IMO! Alice comes extremely close as does Spirit but to me This Way and 0304 were more 'fun' than meaning for Jewel. This Way still has depth but it starts to linger of simplicity in some parts. BUt ya know me...I love em all. But if I could only choose one - POY it is! |

FOR ME SPIRIT ALL THE WAY. The songs on this album inspire me like no other album by any other artist or even by Jewel. Kiera you are right about This Way and 0304 being FUN. This Way is kind of this weird mix of FUN and she slips a few meaningful songs in there too but yeah they still don't compare to POY, Spirit, or GAIW

I think I would have to go with This Way, I mean, it's a fun album, and I love the corkiness of some of the songs, especially 'Do You Want to Play' and 'Sometimes it be that Way."

Too cute, SitDogBoy!!!!
OK, I have a REAL answer now......THIS WAY. I am totally into this album right now. Like I've said in earlier posts I kinda lost touch with Jewel's career after Spirit. I knew she had some singles but never really knew about the album. I was off in LaLa land with country and hard rock during that time...So I downloaded it a few weeks ago, and I've been listening to it alot. Then I bought the actual CD for the booklet recently. Such a variety of songs on here, some are just fun and others more meaningful. I think it shows alot of Jewel's personality overall.

I think some of Jewel's best songs are ones that have never been recorded on CD. That's why I wanted to say I"d keep my own specialized, burned CD!!

Yes that is a good point too. Wow that gives me an idea for a thread... like if you could make a new album out of old songs that aren't on any other album what would they be and in what order? hmm but I am too lazy to make a new thread right now haha if someone else wants to make one, do so. I think it's a nifty idea

Yes! I love This Way (Serve The Ego, Do You Want To Play, Till we run out of road? SO GOOD!), but I like 0304 better.
I like Pop music, even though nobody else here does. This Way was the first album I EVER owned.
