<H4>Jewel & Ang Lee - What's Simple Is True

March 16, 2009
Time for another audio blog, folks. This time we venture back to last month when Jewel’s solo acoustic tour hit The Klien in Bridgeport, Connecticut on the final night of the East Coast swing. Much to our surprise, renowned movie director Ang Lee attended the show and he and Jewel got to spend some backstage time catching up before and after the concert. Here's a shot from after the show that evening.
They hadn't seen each other for several years and Ang's presence inspired Jewel to resurrect “What's Simple Is True” during the performance that night. As you likely know, this song was featured in “Ride With The Devil,” Ang Lee's 1997 Civil War drama starring Jewel as Sue Lee Shelly. It had been 5 years since she last performed the song, and despite it being a little rusty (one line of the bridge is slightly off), its a rare performance that I hope you'll enjoy. Jewel also recalls their time working together in a spontaneous monologue preceding the song.
Otherwise, don't forget to tune in to Dancing With The Stars tonight, when Jewel will be performing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," and to Jimmy Kimmel's show tomorrow night, when they will be featuring Jewel's new sketch. In the meantime, have a listen and enjoy, Alan
