this is random, but it's about painters

every morning i walk to school, and it takes around 7 minutes. to pass the time while i stroll, i sing the song Painters in my head, and just about when the song finishes, i'm approaching the entrance doors. it's just a random jewel-related thing that gives each day a good start!

it takes me 4 minutes (by car) to my house from a particular semaphore and I always listen to Everything Breaks (live at Reno 2004)...

oh and when i shower i always start out by humming last dance rodeo, followed by goodbye alice in wonderland, followed by satellite... i go from the longest to the shortest song on GAIW.

I heard that it was about a friend of hers that stopped being her friend because she had friends that were gay. Then, years later she ran into this former friend while he was out with his boyfriend.

I haven't heard that version, awiste...
The more famous story is about how she sang it at a modeling convention in NYC...and most of the message of the song was completely missed by most of the attendees. Then the NYTimes wrote her up as being racist. For all of the parts, she had some little interjection... like "She's a pretty girl, did she sleep with your whole town" and a model saying (in a valley girl accent) "uh! Did you tell?" and "She's an ugly girl" a model saying "She's not talking about me!" There's a bit more to it, but that's the general gist.

^^ that's the version i've heard most often, jewelwiki & i've also heard that it was about a girl who hates her..but never was a reason given......perhaps now i know :O
