Newbie
Hello! I never really took much notice of Jewel until I saw her on one of my favorite TV Shows "Las Vegas". I recently completed buying the entire series on DVD. I was watching during Season 4 and saw her on the show during the Season 4 opener. I really liked "Drive to You". I actually remember seeing the episode when it aired and remember that song but I guess I just lost track of her until I recently bought sesason 4 of "Las Vegas."
I see she is going to be playing live locally at an Indian Casino here in the Los Angeles area in March. I love seeing live music and it has been a few months since I have been to a concert and I really need to get out of the house for an evening and see some live music. Tickets are pretty resonable so I may go. I hear she is great live. I grew up in the 1980's so I like alot of 80's music. However some of my current favorites are Carrie Underwood,Taylor Swift, and Sarah Mclachlan. However my absolute favorite right now is a young lady from who is very popular in the UK her name is Katie Melua. Just about the best live voice I have ever heard. This is my first post I hope to post more in the future. |

Her shows right now are solo acoustic, so it'll be a bit different from "Drive to You" that you heard on Las Vegas. Try to rent or buy her "Essential Live Songbook" DVD set. It has 2 concerts on it so you can get an idea of what she's like live. She's definitely a great live performer, but I don't want you to expect song like "Drive To You" and get acoustic songs.

Over the weekend I went out and bought "The essential live song book" Double DVD set. I also bought her Pieces of You and "Alice in wonderland" CD's
I have kept the AIW CD in my car and so far my favorites are "Drive to you", "Long Slow Slide are "Where you Are" Just a beautiful voice. She reminds me of Sarah Mclachlan. I watched the first DVD of the collection mentioned above. WOW she sounds great live I can only imagine what she sounds like in person. I can saftley say I have never been to a concert and seen the singer Yodel. That was kind of cool to see. She is also very easy on the eyes. The video and audio quality of the DVD's are just amazing. I know she has about seven cds' out any other suggestions of her other cds I might enjoy would be welcomed. I see she is going to be relaeseing a new CD soon. Is there a date as to when it will be out? |

Hi BRinLA:
I´m glad that you liked what you saw from Jewel. She have an angelic voice and her songs are beautiful. Every record deserve your time to listen to it But you could start to buy Spirit. I´m sure you will love that album! It´s one ofmy favorites! The lullaby album will be her next project but there´s no official date to come out. What I mean (if my english is far from understandable :P) is that: No, there´s no date yet. Take care, Sonne |

Welcome to the forum and sorry you had a few problems registering but I see that's all sorted now.
It's good to see that Jewel can capture new fans from shows like Las Vegas. I forget sometimes that this happens as we're all such long time fans of her and have been following her closely. I've been a fan myself since her first album 'Pieces of You' but I love all the unreleased stuff that she plays at concerts so I recommend that if you get the opportunity to see her live, you should. You'll be in for a real treat. You're faves on GAIW are like mine. I love Drive to you and Long Slow Slide too. They are great songs and are actually quite old but with a new twist put on them for the album. I recommend all the albums but if you just wanted to get 1 or 2 more than the latest one 'Perfectly Clear' and her second album 'Spirit' are really great ones considering what you've heard so far. There are no concrete details on the upcoming Lullaby album but you'll be certain we'll share the details here when they come out. Once again - to the forum. Hope you like it here! Take care Kiera Bearing in mind that you are a child of the 80's, you might also enjoy 0304 which is really Poppy and electric. I'm a child of the 80's myself and love that genre but 0304 wouldn't be a favourite of mine but I still like it. |
