Default EUROVISION SONG CONTEST (Moscow 2009)

Front runners for this silly contest
well maybe because the voting has gone stupid, very political etc. Its simple to find a winner every year. Sweden give Norway 12pts, Russia give Georgia 12pts, Spain give Portugal 12pts etc etc etc until the Russians win again by default because they have or HAD the most neighbours

cynical i know but possibly true!

Anyway, here is my own personal top five based on history and the amount of politcal sway they have!

1ST PLACE: RUSSIA
2ND PLACE: SERBIA
3RD PLACE: NORWAY

Alexander Rybak "Fairytale"

lol... oh Dave... here is one thing more to put to mind. Alexander is actually from Belarus. He moved to Norway when he was 5 years or so. So the song has both a norwegian thing as well as russian thing to it.. That should score some extra points, lol.

And not to forget that I actually know one of the dancers.. We grew up at the same little place up in the mountains, lol.

Geez, I wonder who that norwegian girl might be.... it must be Lene Marlin.. ;-P

I really give a damn for this show, they are not about craft songs anymore, maybe far FAR away in time they was, but today almost EVERY SINGLE SINGER on it sing in english. What´s not bad, but I rather hear the original language of each place than a lame and equal to the other song.

I hope I haven´t annoy no one with my comment.

And the voting thing is as you said, Diamond. You have to got GOOD neigbours around to win that. It´s the only thing you need actually to win, no matter if you are completely untalented (the contrary to talented, don´t know if this is the right word)

Take care

I gave up on the Eurovision when it became a political popularity contest. Genuine talent (though hard to find in it these days) is completely overlooked. Ireland still stand as the country to have won more than any other country. I think it stands at about 7 times. I lost count. They've done crap over the last few years. Some deservingly so but I thought last years and 3 years ago were worth a lot more than they got.

It's all a shambles.

You are all so cynical about the Eurovision! I can't believe that such a serious and auspicious competition inspires such negativity! cough*sarcasm*cough

Anyway this years competition is going to be a but different as half the votes will be from telephone votes and the other half will be from a professional jury so it won't be AS biased as previous years. I always say I won't watch it but yet I do. The Irish entry this year isn't half bad either. Y'know, for Eurovision........

Norway has had that kind of voting for years. Half telephone votes, and the other half from a jury

however Netty, you still always will give Sweden 12 pts and Finland 10pts ?
We usually will give Ireland 12pts and just about anyone that isnt France or Germany the 10pts.

If they ever decide a fair way it will be good but i dont think in our so called democratic world that will ever happen, democracy! what democracy. At least Russia (i think) have declined to enter even though they are hosting. I maybe wrong but Inga told me that they are no longer interested in Eurovision simply because they know that if they win again they will be labeled as cheats.

Oh well all is good in Love & War.

A Eurovision song that did not even make the finals in 2007 was Magdi Rúzsa's amazing "Unsubstantial Blues" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHPMa...rom=PL&index=5

the song was a big hit in Hungary and a song i thought myself would do so much better. The eventual winner was that rubbish from Serbia! Marija Å:censored:erifović "Molitva" (Молитва) Prayer

The show is next Saturday and i still think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8JRtGMBUz0
will blow them all away. It would be a 'Fairytale' if Alexander Rybak wins.

What I don´t like of this show is the dreadful commercialism it is!

Come on everybody sing in english cause otherwise your song wouldn´t get that far! (high sarcasm!!!)

I would love to hear the different language and culture of each land that participate, but that doesn´t sell!!!

Take care

Well it was a Fairytale win for Norway.
And i must admit at least this year a song won because it was the best song. The only obvious polital voting came from Andora giving Romania 12pts and of course Cyprus giving Greece 12 pts.

Congratualtions also to Alexander Rybuk for winning but a few songs really stood out. Estonia was excellent too and also i was surprised how good Turkey's song was.
