After all these years, why do I still like Jewel?
For more than a decade now, I've been listening to Jewel.
Time and time again, people ask, why I never get tired of listening to Jewel? Honestly, I am more tired of these people who are asking. Though it made me think, yes why? After all these years, why do I still like Jewel? Please share your thoughts, then maybe I can find an answer for myself. |

There is always a song of hers that relates to my life at the moment that's why I never get tired of her.

I'd say you're still a fan for similar reasons to me. In my case, I am still a fan because even with all the fame and fortune, Jewel has always remained true to herself and knows the important things in life. She is very wise beyond her years and yet so down to earth.
She knows how to have fun and how to appreciate and love and forgive but also, she shares herself so beautifully with her amazing music, poetry and art. She is unique and very special and we all need to have someone like that in our lives, even if it's only through the speaker of our stereos. |

Yeah, that's the same kind of thing for me too.
I've been into Jewel for around 10 years or so,and i guess her fans have kind of grown up with her,and we have followed her journey, and shared her growth as a songwriter and musician, and it's obviosly had a profound effect on our lives. Jewel,as Kiera says, seems to share her life, feelings, emotions, thoughts etc with all of us in her lyrics,so we probably feel we know so much about her through her songs that it keeps us interested in her music, and her as an artist. She is a very intelligent woman, she is extremely talented in her field, she is gorgeous, funny and i guess we are captivated with her in general. No matter what artists i like at the present,or in the future,i am positive that Jewel will always feature heavily in my life,i will always listen to her wonderful music, and i will always follow her life,as i and many other have done throughout her career. She has touched many people,me included with her music, and her charming personality, and i agree with Kiera, that even though Jewel has achieved super-star status, she has remained true to herself, but also to her huge fan-base. She comes across as an approachable, normal person, not the usual kind of stuck-up celebrity,so i think she will always be compelling to watch, and to listen to,and she will remain true to her fans through the next stage in her remarkable journey, and we will all be there to share it with her. I think we all feel a similar respect for Jewel, she's a class act,'whats simple is true' its as plain as that. Cheers Crawfy !!! |

I agree with Chris, my favorite songs by her or songs I connect with change over time... there is always a song to coincide with whatever is going on with me.. even songs I never really got that much into.. will come around to serve a purpose for me one day and re-connect me with the meaning of her music once again.... also she is the only artist I can say that when I am in a terribly shoddy mood, I can play one song and her voice will just bring me down, actually she could sing the phone book for all it matters, she just has that effect on me..

Jewel has ALWAYS been wiser than her years. Even when POY came out and she was like 18 or 19, that girl had the maturity of at least a 35 year old! Can any of us imagine writing music of such mature themes at the age of 18?? Her environment she grew up in allowed her to see more in life than most, and this maturity is what I think has carried her through both her career and her life in general.
I truly admire her for her underlying wisdom and insight into this life. The ways she describes things in her music are so profound, yet at the same time rather simple and I think it takes a truly effervescent and highly intellectual individual to do such a thing. To me, Jewel is one of a kind. There is no one else like her. Her name truly fits her. She is a precious gem, and one to most definitely be admired for all eternity...

And every song of her is so touching, and every song reminds you on antoher time in your life.

Me too, I've been a Jewel fan for over a decade. Teens go through phases and usually end up not liking everything they used to but Jewel stuck with me. It doesn't seem like a decade though; it seems like POY shouldn't be any more than 5 years old. Time flies too fast these days.
