It's funny how some people think she now has an accent......as a longtime country music fan, Jewel carries hardly ANY country accent at all in this first single. In fact, I'm not sure some 'country' fans will buy it. To my 'country' ear, I only hear country instrumentation and production.

BUT, I personally really like do the song and think it does have a chance on the country charts, as long as her label promotes her properly. They're going to have to work twice as hard as everyone else to get it heard, I think. Another thing to consider is that the country charts is a MAN'S WORLD. It's the "good ol' boy" system that's always been present in Nashville, especially in recent years. It's very difficult to get a female artist's songs high on the country charts anymore and it's quite a shame. Even with the most promising single, a country woman in a country man's world is a hard sell these days. Just telling it how it is.

Geez, I just said I didn't like the song. It will probably grow on me, but my first impression was negative. Sorry for posting my opinion. I'll avoid it in the future....

So if the song is released to radio on the 23rd, doesn't a video usually follow relatively soon? Anyone heard anything?

I wasn't saying you couldn't speak your mind more power to you. I was just pseaking my opinon that it seems as if we all complain when jewel puts out new material.

I am just saying I feel we should be more supportive of her point out more positive even if we hate the song.

As for country being dominated by men I think times are changing. Heres my thoughts

1. Most country males sound exactly the same
I can't tell george strait from braid paisely from tim mcgraw from alan jackson ect..

2. Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, The Wreckers and many other country females have been making huge impacts on the country charts with their singles and albums.
"before he cheats" was explosive and carrie underwood won almost every award there was in 2006/2007
Miranda Lambert's album "Crazy Ex Girlfriend" was one of the only country albums in every magazins Rolling Stone, Blender, Entertainment weekley ect top 10 albums of the year.

So i think the girls are bringing it and making it a more level playing field

Why does posting a comment on this board seem to alwasy irritate people? As if Jewel fans can't say anything wrong about Jewel, OMG heaven forbid! I dont like this sog so I cannot voice my opinion? Who cares if it's a harsh opinion why does it have to be nice???? I'm sure worse has been written about Jewel's music than some comments on this board.
Just because Jewle is "nice" enough to give us more music we have to be supportive even if we dont like it? That does not make sense. I do not like country music but I like the "This Way" album and that was counrty inspired in some songs. Jewle went off in the deep end of country for me and I cannot follow. Don't see how I need to appreciate what jewel is doing in any way. Does it make me less of a fan in some ways....yeah perhaps. I don't hink Jewel is wrong in her musical choices, nor do I condemn her it's just too stylized for me to listen to.

You all complained when 0304 came out. She was a sell out. You couldn't embrace that she was trying new things and growing as an artist. Not all of you just alot of you.

Same thing when GAIW came out. Complained that Again and Again was lacking this and that.
I mean what more do you want from her.
Stronger Woman is much weaker than Intuition and Again and Again.

i understand that everyone has different opinions about the new music. i think we all need to keep in mind that jewel is fully aware that she is taking a huge risk with this country album. i respect her for always trying something new. all of her albums have been different and thats cool to me.

I think Jewel has what it takes to make it in country music, it just might take a bit to catch on. Nashville has to digest that she's entering the country music realm first. I think once people accept that fact first, they will see Jewel's music is spectacular just like we do! I am proud of her for trying something new! Many new artists work their butts off with radio tours around the country, and that's what Jewel is doing now to get her music played at country radio. It has to be exciting for her to do this again; it's like a rebirth of sorts. She probably hasn't done something like this since like 1994/1995. One thing we all can agree on is that Jewel is so talented that she can cover many different genres easily.......that in and of itself lends itself to how versatile, flexible, and creative Jewel really is. That is something to be proud of as a Jewel fan.

yes, i've heard that title from several sources, including the link on the 1st page. i think it might be safe to assume this is the official title.

here's another blog w/ the song! (if you google "jewel stronger woman" lots of links come up). exciting! lol.
