Cool. And only $10. Should be some good activity that night. Wish I was there to be able to go.

Anyone here able to go?

There's nothing more depressing or frustrating for me, since, I can't even get a copy of any book and previous albums of Jewel here in Manila
Maybe, they're all out of stock. Im just happy since Roy is very resourceful in finding Jewel and post them here. Sometimes, I wonder, how he mines at Jewel's songs and videos. Where do you dig 'em , Roy? We gotta see each other and tell me the secrets of your Jewel Collections. (LOL)

Here's an article I found about the event.

SOURCE

Quote:
On Tuesday night, June 12, 2007, multi-platinum singing sensation Jewel will host a Songwriters Showcase at the venue 12th & Porter in Nashville, Tennesse. Following a successful “ Nashville meets L.A” songwriters’ showcase with John Rich and MusikMafia members Trevor Rosen, Jon Nicholson, and Shanna Crooks, Jewel brings another rare acoustic Songwriters Showcase to the Nashville scene. The impromptu evening will include exclusive performances by Jewel and surprise songwriting friends in an intimate venue in Nashville. Tickets are available only online at www.frontgatetickets.com and priced at $10.
From the remote tundra of her Alaskan youth to the triumph of international stardom, Jewel has traveled a singular road as an acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet, actress and painter. The three-time Grammy nominee, hailed by The Times of London as “the most sparkling female singer-songwriter since Joni Mitchell,” nevertheless remains a unique and authentic artist, exploring fresh musical avenues for more than a decade that have taken her from the simplicity of acoustic-driven folk to the embrace of rock, pop, country, blues, jazz and classical influences. To date, Jewel has sold over 27 million albums worldwide, enjoying career longevity rare among her generation of artists. Jewel recently completed a stint as the host of Nashville Star and is in the studio working on a country-infused album.

With thanks to Rob Hanning on the EDA list, it is rumoured that Steve Poltz will be in Nashville to attend the writers night.

Thumbs up I was there....

Hi Jewel fans...I just joined the board so I could tell all about the awesome show last night. I usually am not much of a poster on message boards, just a reader. This was my third privilege of seeing Jewel in concert, the other times being during her "Tour for No Reason" in Louisville, and then last year with Rob Thomas in Nashville. I would say that last night was definately the best.

I'm guessing the place only held about 400 people. There were 8 tables set up in front of the stage with standing room behind them. We were right behind a table, about 15 feet away from the mic. There was also a bit of a balcony area, not too many could fit up there. I'd say it was definately fans of Jewel or just great songwriters because the crowd was wonderful, quiet and respectful. During the first 4 or 5 songs there was one guy who was drunk and being loud, but his friends convinced him to leave, after that it was awesome.

I've tried to remember the best I could for the setlist.
John Rich comes up first and tells everyone they're in for a real treat, talks about how great she is, and to enjoy.
1.Somewhere Over the Rainbow
She then started out by asking for requests. Noone said anything except for this couple at a table requesting Standing Still because it was their anniversary. She joked we were really quiet and promised to play that.
2.Carnivore
Told how she wrote Hands as a song to herself to make her feel better and not so alone, then right after 9/11 she heard it on the radio and was very humbled by the fact that it could mean so much to others and give them comfort.
3.Hands
4.Life Uncommon - She said this one was for the troops. (my first time seeing her perform this live, it's also my all time favorite of hers, I was in awe)
5.Standing Still for the anniversary couple
She invites John Rich up to play with her. By the way, we saw him drive up in a Bentley. He gets up there and Jewel comments about him drinking. He says, "You know I feel sorry for people who don't drink. Because when they get up in the morning that's the best they're going to feel all day."
6.Lost In This Moment - Requested by Jewel for the anniversary couple
7.? I'm sorry but I don't remember these next 2. I think they were new songs that they had written together.
8.?
Tells a story about freaky fans and a guy who had sent her a tape of himself singing You Were Meant For Me naked with cooking oil all over himself. And that she is perfect armpit height for most men and when she meets them and take a pic with them they are usually nervous with sweaty armpits and it sucks her right in. Also, about one guy who said he would love to get her in his chair, he was an orthodontist.
9.Intuition
10.Cowboy Waltz - Intro about how she wrote it for her dad.
Again asks for requests, someone asks for Violet Eyes. She says, "You really think so, here?" Then tells it's her least favorite song to sing and if anyone talks during it she would get very mad. Tells about her best friend.
11.Violet Eyes
Next she invites up Tex somebody. A songwriter. They somehow ended up joking about him writing a song for Brokeback Mountain with Willie Nelson called "That Sh** Ain't Right" Sorry if anyone's offended.
12.That Sh** Ain't Right
13.Song about Crazy Women
Jewel asks what's wrong with him not liking gays or women. He says he loves women, just that they're all crazy. It was pretty funny.
Next, she says she'd like to play some songs from her new album coming out.
14.Thump, Thump
15.Something with Heaven in the name
16. Another new one, sorry I can't remember much right now.
Invites up Kix Brooks.
17.Red Dirt Road
She asks him to play the song he played for them at the ranch. He comments on what a great guy Ty is and he is rock hard. Jewel agreed and made this sort of moaning noise and he asked her what that was all about. Also, earlier she had told about going to Ronnie Dunn's house to record a song and how nice he was. Brooks said he wasn't all that nice and was just bull sh***ing her.
18.Some song about a rodeo
Hitch hiking story
19.YWMFM
20.Foolish Games
21.WWSYS - Kermit Intro
Encore -
Thanks a lot of people who have been helping her with her new records in Nashville. Talks about how great a town Nashville is for real songwriters.
Asks for requests-
22.Stephenville, TX
23.Chime Bells - Says this is the 1st song her dad ever taught her. Half way through she stops and says this is the first time she's ever yodeled for the audience and noone started laughing and thanks us.

All in all, One AWESOME show! I'll try to get back if anyone has any questions. I've also got quite a few pictures if it's okay to post them here.

You are right greenpoet, it's depressing at times, maybe that's one of the reasons why we love the JKF, we are now updated with Jewel.
BTW- i would love to show you my collections. Just let me know when is your free time.

Well I for one would really like to thank you from stepping over the reader group and into the posting group, even if it is just for this. I really appreciate you sharing your truly awesome night with us. I am so jealous. I really would have loved to have been there.

Thanks so much again. It was really good of you!

Those are the exact two shows that I have been to also!
Isn't it wierd that we were in the same room together twice? lol
We could've been sitting beside each other for all I know lol
