Small private concert set for Boston!

We hear that Jewel will perform a free concert for commuters inside the main terminal at South Station on Feb. 9. Jewel, who recently did a stint as a guest judge on “American Idol,” will perform for the masses after a small, private concert she’ll do aboard the Green Line from Boston College station. While her train won’t stop at any regular stations, commuters on the platform will receive a free pre-loaded fare card when her train passes through. The shows are courtesy of the new Boston Verizon Yellow Pages and its publisher Idearc Media.

Anyone live near the Green line from Boston College? You're in for a treat!

Though I would never encourage this nor condone it..I would be tempted to 'pull a sickie' in cases like this. What an opportunity to pass up!

That's so awesome! She should do that in Chicago. The CTA is the worst system in the world and to have live performances on the platforms by real artists would be great. Although it would be even more crowded, ugh!

Directories have been piling up on porches over the past few weeks, and Verizon Yellow Pages has launched a massive ad campaign aimed at 18- to 25-year-olds, using Chinese food take-out boxes, a local Super Bowl ad, and singer-songwriter Jewel to increase brand awareness. The crowning publicity stunt occurs tomorrow, when Jewel rides a chartered Green Line train -- temporarily dubbed the "yellow line" -- into Boston, and later performs a free concert at South Station.

This must be the reason for all the promotions she's doing.

On Feb. 9, Jewel (..singer, songwriter, poet, artist, welder) will perform a free concert at South Station, not for the heck of it, but to promote the Verizon Yellow Pages.

Say it with me: non-fare revenue, non-fare revenue...

The press release says something about giving her fans a special preview of her upcoming greatest hits CD.
And for a select group of fans (no word how these folks'll be picked), Jewel will board a Green Line train (renamed the "Yellow Line" for the day in honor of Verizon Yellow Pages, says the presser) and play for the peeps as the wheels on the Breda go round and round.

Oh. While that train's going from Boston College to Park Street, it will make no stops. And as it whizzes past, Verizon is promising passengers left in the lurch a free, pre-loaded CharlieCard in return. No word on how much it will be loaded. Or how they'll distribute them. Maybe they'll chuck them out the window.

Once at Park Street, she heads to South Station for the 7 p.m. concert. Wonder if she'll take a limo or the Red Line?

So hmmm... interesting... The Greatest Hits is probably coming out in the winter. I wonder if she'll release the country albumthis year still. it certainly would be a new thing for Jewel, hehe... 2 albums in 1 year!

I just hope they put out a FANTASTIC greatest hits package!
